About me

Thank you for your interest and for coming to read a little more about me. I am Noé Domínguez Porras, a professional computer enthusiast. It is a hobby I developed in my childhood and adolescence learning about computers, from working with my dad building communication networks, memorizing the OSI model as a teenager, and tinkering with a bit of electronics. During my university specialization, I decided to focus on programming and computer science. One of the experiences that made me commit to this field was an exchange program in South Korea, where I had the opportunity to learn about software development, technological innovation, and the transformation of the country through R&D. I enjoy creating and learning both in software engineering, technopolitics and computer science, as well as in cooking, fermentation and food preservation.

Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to participate in very diverse projects. I have been involved in projects where I greatly enjoyed learning and connecting work with my interests. I have worked on social and open data projects such as Datamx.io at Codeando México, where we won the National Innovation Award in Transparency in Mexico. I also worked with friends on the creation of Boletia.com, before it was cool, bootstrapping an idea with Ruby on Rails. Building utilities for the use and publication of open data at datos.gob.mx, datos.labcd.mx. There I carried out some projects for CKAN, data validation, scraping, visualization and workshops.

Another area that has fascinated me is crowdsourcing and civic technology. In the field of crowdsourcing, I have carried out some experiments such as temporadadechiles.com to collect experiences about Chiles en Nogada on a mobile-first website built with Ruby on Rails. During the earthquake of September 19, 2017, with codersmexico.com(†), we launched the Twitter hashtag #RevisaMiGrieta and built a bot to help people in potential danger. You can find a short story about Revisa Mi Grieta in Fortune México October 2017 edition, and in the Revista dels Estudis de Ciències de la Informació i de la Comunicació de Barcelona.

In parallel with my professional work, I decided to deepen my academic knowledge. I studied a Master’s degree in Computer Science (2016-2018) at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the Korean MIT, an inspiring place where research projects are developed that have an impact on technology and society in South Korea. This was possible thanks to the sponsorship of CONACYT and the Government of South Korea, to whom I will always be deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow professionally. I was part of the Web Engineering laboratory, where I learned about mashups of Internet of Things services and human-computer interaction. My master’s thesis was titled “Mashup recommendation model for trigger action programming paradigm = 트리거-액션 프로그래밍 패러다임을 위한 매쉬업 추천 알고리즘 for Internet of Things Services”, and I presented my work at the International Conference on Web Engineering ICWE 2018 in Cáceres, Spain.

Academia also opened doors for me to share my work with international communities. In 2019 I gave a talk at the first PyCon Latam 2019 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Super computers for humanitarian aid sharing with Latin American developers how algorithms with humans in the loop can be used to solve photo classification problems. As well as sharing libraries related to Crowdsourcing and ChatBots that are useful. Back then, which seems both so close and so far away, computers could not solve computer vision problems the way LLMs do now.

Beyond technical work, I have always believed in commitment to society. Regarding Mexico, as part of civil society, I have contributed to various initiatives in defense of digital rights with R3D, and the Wikimedia community. In 2020 at Wikimedia México I teamed up with Pepe Flores and with the support of the Wikimedia Credibility Coalition community we created Glassbox News, a research project to analyze the problem of hidden changes in news websites. We received a Credibility Coalition Grant to develop this work and advance the topic.

On a professional level, I took an important step by joining the European technology industry. In 2020 I joined Adevinta.com full time to work on the Data Platform team, where I have focused on building data systems for ingestion, classification, management and GDPR compliance. It is work that has allowed me to learn about distributed systems, data architecture, data engineering, security and privacy, while working with a team of very talented people on very interesting projects.

Without setting aside continuous learning, I decided to expand my knowledge in a new field. In 2025 I completed the postgraduate program in Data Science for Mobility at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia to learn about data analysis in the mobility context, mobility data management, and machine learning applied to mobility. With the support of the Spanish Government and Next Generation EU programs.

This entire journey has allowed me to develop a broad and diverse technical profile. In the field of computer science and software engineering I have learned about Full-Stack web development, augmented reality, ubiquitous systems, distributed systems and data analysis/visualization. You can visit my Github account to find the code for some of the projects I have worked on at github.com/poguez. You can also see some of my presentations published on Speaker Deck.

I am always open to hearing new ideas and projects. Send me a message on X, LinkedIn and let’s talk.

Noé.
